In order to join Baltimore Youth Hockey Rec-Level Mites, Squirts, etc. teams children must be graduates of a rink Learn-to-Skate or Hockey Basics Program. Northwest's Basic Skills Group Lesson, Pre-Hockey Group Lesson and Summer Hockey Camps have a long, successful history of preparing youth hockey skaters for the challenges of this exciting sport. Some of Northwest graduates have even gone directly onto the higher level travel teams and have become top performers.

New last year and back again by popular reequest for children who have never skated or never had lessons, we have a Beginner Hockey Group Lesson that parallels the Basic Skills instruction but incorporates a hockey format. Emphasis is on skating, balance, control and agility, no sticks or pucks at first. When ready they move into Pre-Hockey and then onto a team.

All participants must have an annual ISI membership. Applications are in the office and on line at www.skateISI.org

Group Classes Friday - 6:30 - 7:30 PM

Pre-Hockey and Hockey Levels 1 & 2

Skaters must pass pre-alpha or equivalent and have helmet with face shield, hockey stick, gloves and protective cup.

New Class for Beginner Skaters interested in Hockey.

Saturday 1:45 - 2:45 PM

The new Hockey Basics group lesson class for Beginner skaters is very popular. This Beginner Hockey Group Lesson parallels the regular Basic skills instruction but incorporates a hockey format. The class was originally designed to attract the 4 - 8 year olds who had dreams of playing hockey. However, it also attracted teenagers and adults. We just added an additional teacher and had two separate groups and they all had a great time and learned enough to join a team.

Pick-Up Ice Hockey

Northwest Ice Rink offers Pick-Up Ice Hockey every

Monday evening 9:30 - 11:00PM.
